A major step forward! But, alas, not a complete solution to my needs. If you enable that feature, you can – for example – make Gmail’s All Mail or Sent Mail invisible to IMAP clients so that they won’t spin forever trying to keep a desktop version of those multi-gigabyte (!) mailboxes in sync with the Gmail server version. One of the features they added a few months back allows you to enable/disable various “folders” (or Labels in Gmail parlance) so that they’re not made available to IMAP clients. I’m a big fan of what the Google folks are doing with the Labs feature in Gmail. What’s the lesson the credit card industry should learn from all this? Anything? It will be fascinating to see who prevails. The financial services lobby is certainly fully engaged on the issues. In spite of this week’s angst, we’re still a ways away from any legislative response actually passing (in the Senate, in particular).
A natural (if silo’ed) response by issuers to the need to protect/improve the P&L of the credit card businesses inside major financial institutions. Way back in early February, I wrote a blog post about “ The Pressures on US Consumers from their Credit Card Debt” – primarily noting how the credit card issuers were actually digging their own grave with their upward interest rate adjustments. Today’s meeting with Obama at the White House, Dodd and Schumer today asking Bernanke et all to use the Fed’s powers to block issuer interest rate increases, yesterday’s passage of the Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights out of the House Financial Services Committee, etc. What a week for credit card issuers! Once those additions have been made to your templates, you can then start using Slimbox2 on your images – by including rel=”lightbox” in the reference tag. You then need to modify the head portion of your templates to include the Javascript and CSS files along with Jquery. I chose Slimbox2 by Christophe Beyls – the latest optimized version of the original Lightbox2 Javascript package by Lokesh Dhakar.Installation consists of creating two new directories (css and js) and uploading a total of six files. This effect has been around for some time – but seeing it again motivated me to add it to this blog – so I did. I noticed that its screen images had that nice feature where when you clicked on them a new window would open showing a larger image against a black background.
